BANJUL, January 17, 2012: H.E. the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad of the Republic of The Gambia Dr. Mamadou Tangara, Tuesday on the 17th of January 2012 hosted a welcome dinner in honour of the Foreign Minister of the Republic of China (Taiwan) H.E. Timothy Yang at Sheraton Resort and Spa Hotel. The dinner was attended by the Hon. Mambury Njie, Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, Hon. Ousman Sonko, Minister of the Interior, Hon. Alhagi Abdoulie Cham, Minister of Information and Communication Infrastructure, Hon. Fatou Lamin Faye, Minister of Basic and Secondary Education, Hon. Njogu L. Bah, the Secretary General of the office of the President, and other senior government officials as well as the members of the Taiwanese delegation and staff of the Taiwanese Embassy in Banjul.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE CLOSING SESSION OF THE FIRST (1ST) CONSULTATIVE MEETING BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF THE GAMBIA AND GAMBIANS IN THE DIASPORA KAIRABA BEACH HOTEL, KOLOLI, THE GAMBIA 3RD – 4TH JANUARY 2012
The First Consultative Meeting between the Government of The Gambia and the Gambians in the Diaspora was formally closed on the 4th January 2012 at around 6:00pm, following the conclusion of work by the three Thematic Working Groups (TWG’s), the Meeting returned to plenary for the closing ceremony in the course of which a vote of thanks was delivered by His Excellency Mr. Baboucarr Blaise Ismaila Jagne, former Minister for Foreign Affairs and current international civil servant with the United Nations. The closing statement of the First Consultative Meeting between the Government of The Gambia and Gambians in the Diaspora was delivered by the Honourable Dr. Mamadou Tangara, Minister for Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad.

Press Statement on the Election of Mrs. Fatou Bomm Bensouda as Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court

Following the election by acclamation of Mrs. Fatou Bomm BENSOUDA as the new Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) on Monday 12th December 2011, during the Tenth Assembly of States Parties of the Rome Statute establishing the ICC, currently being held in New York from the 12th to the 21st December 2011, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Gambians Abroad hereby wishes to register its sincere gratitude and appreciation to all those who in one way or the other contributed to the successful election of Mrs. Bensouda.
